ICE 120 and VIP 100: innovations for better safety and ergonomics.

Writing the future has a long tradition at RUD. When it comes to materials for lifting or lashing means, for example, RUD has always been one step ahead of its time. For example, we have defined the quality grades at RUD since 1972. The decisive factor is that the continual improvement of the quality grades allows the WLL to increase by up to 60 % between Grade 8 and Grade 12 (ICE) – with the same chain diameter.

The advantage for you as the customer is obvious: the dead weight of a chain, for example, is reduced by up to 30 % with the same WLL, thus perceptibly improving the ergonomics of the chain in day-to-day application. Other advantages are the chain’s high level of toughness, its durability and its increased breaking strength with a constant elongation at break. All of this makes it the economic choice for a wide range of lifting tasks. And that is only one of the many historic innovative developments that RUD has to offer.

1972

RUD is the first company to receive approval for round steel chains of Grade 8 (H1-8) from the employers’ liability insurance association committee “Iron and Metal”.

1994

RUD is the first chain factory to be awarded approval by the employers’ liability insurance association for VIP special grade of Grad 10 (H1-10) with up to 30 % greater WLL than Grade 8.

2007

RUD was the first chain factory to receive approval for round steel chains of Grade 12 (D1-12) from the employers’ liability insurance association committee “Iron and Metal”.

The advantages of RUD VIP and ICE technology at a glance:

  • High value for money thanks to special hardening.
  • Higher breaking strength - constant elongation at break.
  • Significantly improved toughness.
  • Up to 60 % higher breaking strength / WLL than Grade 8.

Longer service life thanks to special heat treatment and patented material:

  • Higher wear resistance.
  • Reduced sensitivity to the penetration of sharp edges.
  • 30 % higher surface hardness than Grade 8, resulting in a significantly longer useful life.
